Die Standalone-Version von DayZ hat einen neuen experimentellen Patch erhalten. Das hat Projektleiter Dean Hall nun im offiziellen Forum zum Spiel bekannt gegeben und gleichzeitig auch die vorläufigen Patchnotes veröffentlicht. Die finale Version des Updates für die Alpha-Fassung der DayZ-Standalone wird für den Zeitraum zwischen dem 5. und dem 7. Februar 2014 erwartet.

Die Aktualisierung bringt unter anderem ein neues Warteschlangen-System mit sich, dem sich Spieler unterwerfen müssen, die einen Server wechseln oder einen Server zu schnell verlassen wollen. Beim erneuten Beitritt einer Spielwelt heißt es dann, einige Sekunden Wartezeit in Kauf zu nehmen. Offenbar möchte das Entwicklerteam so das sogenannte Server-Hopping, bei dem Spieler ein und dieselbe Loot-Stelle auf verschiedenen Servern abgrasen, und das Combat-Logging, bei dem mitten in der Konfrontation mit anderen Spielern spontan der Server verlassen wird, eindämmen.

Hinzu kommen einige Balancing-Anpassungen. So lassen sich Rucksäcke nun nicht mehr so einfach auf Baustellen finden, was den Spieleinstieg etwas erschweren sollte. Außerdem sollen Militär-Zombies nun widerstandsfähiger sein und in Svetlojarsk wurden neue Zombie-Spawns hinzugefügt.

Darüber hinaus können gefesselte Mitspieler nun mittels einer Eisensäge aus ihrer misslichen Lage befreit werden und die Läufe leerer Waffen ohne Magazin lassen sich nun mit einer Patrone befüllen.
