Ist das eigentlich deine Lebensaufgabe hier einfach alle paar Tage ein paar Videos und Links rein zu hämmern?

Ich habe übrigens mal ne VM mit Xubuntu installiert in VMWare player. Natürlich mal sofort Steam drauf gepackt um zu schauen wie Spiele unter Linux so laufen. Erster Test war World of Goo. Klar läuft ohne Probleme, da Linux kompatibel und nur 2D.
Dann mal Besiege installiert, also mal ein 3D Spiel. Lief durchgehend mit 60 FPS.
Werde mal schauen ob ich noch größere und aufwändigere Spiele installiere.
Hatte eigentlich mal vor einfach ne VM zu nutzen um diese zum sicheren Surfen zu nutzen. Komplett auf Linux umsteigen macht eben keinen Sinn für mich aktuell und Dualboot ist ultra nervig.
So wäre das ne coole Alternative, wenn man auch mal in der VM drin ist und schnell mal was starten will.

 

An deiner Stelle würde ich dann mal ein Vulkan Spiel testen, entweder nativ oder eins über DXVK (also ein Direct 3D10/11 Spiel).

 

VMWare Player bietet volle 3D Unterstützung? Welche VM Lösung ist da für Windows die beste?

 

Ich habe bisher nur VirtualBox und VMWare Player getestet mit Xubuntu. Virtual Box ist ziemlich bescheiden. Man kann der GPU nur 128MB zuweisen und solche Scherze. Da lief nichtmal Youtube richtig.
In VMWare Player läuft Xubuntu deutlich besser. Komischerweise kann ich aber kein WQHD als Auflösung einstellen.
Mehr als World of Goo und Besiege habe ich nicht getestet bisher.
Kann daher nicht sagen wie CS:GO z.B. läuft oder andere anspruchsvollere Spiele. DirectX Spiele muss man mit DXVK zum laufen bringen. Kenne mich da aber auch überhaupt nicht mit aus.

 

Das Spiel muss man einfach nur unter dem Linux Steam Client installieren. Bei einem DX 10/11 Spiel wird automatisch DXVK konfiguriert und verwendet.

Per Default kann Steam Play aber nur für Windows Titel genutzt werden, die auf einer Whitelist von Valve sind. Man kann aber in den Steam Einstellungen Steam Play für alle Windows Titel aktivieren und dann optional auch für native Linux Spiele nutzen.

Ggf. vorher erstmal auf https://www.protondb.com/ prüfen, ob der ausgewählte Titel laufen würde.

Edit: Wird in dem VMPlayer auch der NVidia bzw. AMD Treiber verwendet? Generell sollte auch der neueste Treiber für DXVK verwendet werden.

 

Ich habe nichts an Treibern installiert. Ich kenne mich mit Linux genau 0 aus.
Habe nur Xubuntu installiert, danach Steam runtergeladen und installiert und die beiden Spiele getestet. Mehr nicht.
Ich kenne weder Proton noch Steam Play.

 

Steam Play ist nur ein Begriff für die Funktionalität, dass du ein Windows Titel auch unter Linux spielen kannst.
Proton ist eine Sammlung verschiedener Bibliotheken, die u.a. Wine, DXVK und weitere Komponenten enthält, mit der dann Windows Titel auch unter Linux lauffähig gemacht werden sollen.

Ich denke mal, dass Titel die OpenGL 4 oder Vulkan benötigen im VMWare Player (noch) nicht laufen werden.

 

Wie gesagt, kann es testen. Welcher Titel wäre z.B. Vulkan only?

Manche Spiele wie Mad Max und The Talos Principle unterstützen zwei Renderer, OpenGL und Vulkan.

Aber Kernel 5 ist nur die halbe Miete. Jetzt muss zusätzlich noch Mesa in der Version 19 erscheinen. Erst dann hat man den vollumfänglichen "out of the box" Support.

So habe ich es zumindest verstanden.

 

Stimmt. An Mesa 19 hatte ich nicht gedacht. Aber die Version sollte bald endlich erscheinen. Kannst gerne dann mal berichten, wie gut das soweit funktioniert.

Ja klar. Kann ich mal ne Meldung machen. Die UfoWebseite (mit der man die Sync-Technologien testen kann) meldet derzeit, dass der Support auf Linux ausbleibt.
Mesa 19 sollte eigentlich schon am 19 Februar erscheinen, aber bisher habe ich nichts bekommen (bin auf Antergos -> somit Arch).

Die neue Proton Version teste ich gerade. Bei mir hat "Dishonored - Death of the outsider" immer sehr gestockt, mal schauen wie es damit läuft. Dishonored 2 lief kurioserweise Problemlos mit einer älteren Proton-Version (ehemals 3.16.6).

Auf protondb meint jmd., dass der erste Teil mit Proton 3.7.8 und PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 (also D3D11 über OpenGL und nicht DXVK) ganz ok laufen soll.

Mit den neusten Updates (Mesa 19, Kernel 5, DXVK 1.01) hat sich das Spielgefühl deutlich verbessert. Elex hat keine FPS-Einbrüche mehr. Metro Exodus hat einige Ruckler weniger.

Freesync ist subjektiv leider sehr schwer zu beurteilen, wenn , dann merke ich es bei Metro Exodus, dass es keine Schlieren gibt. Aber da muss ich deutlich mehr FPS erzielen als 60 und dann stelle ich mir gleichzeitig die Frage: "Ist das jetzt schon Freesync, oder einfach flüssig"?

Egal wie, es ist einfach super, dass ich meine Win10 Installation schon seit 6 Monaten nicht mehr in Betrieb nehmen musste und dabei die neusten Spiele zocken kann.
