    Widespread rumours have hit the internet this afternoon claiming that Queens Of The Stone Age are to split.

    According to reports on numerous online sources, Queens mainman Josh Homme has thrown hellraising bass player Nick Oliveri out of the band, following the group's recent tour of Australia.

    The supposed breakdown of the group is said to have reached a climax on the tour, which came at the end of almost two years solid promoting the band's imperious 'Songs For The Deaf' album.

    No official comments has been made on the reports as yet, with UK music website Playlouder claiming both Oliveri and former Screaming Tree Mark Lanegan, who sings with Queens, have left the group.

    A 'source' states: "It was their last tour in Australia that gave [Nick] the push, it was all out of control. But it's not hard to believe they are ready to split after 19 months of solid touring basically. That's rock and roll."

    No statement has been made on the band's website, although the forums are rife with speculation, most of which, in the absence of any official line, has been dismissed by fans.

    One comments: "I keep seeing repeating rumours. The same ones. Concerning Mr. Nick being 'kicked out'. Where is the proof? Where is source?"

    Another concludes: "It all does look like a huge crock of shit."

    In recent months, the band's solo projects have all taken on more significant profiles. Homme is currently touring with his new band 'The Eagles Of Death Metal', following the release of the latest 'Desert Sessions' record.

    Meanwhile, Oliveri has made an album and played live shows across the globe under the guise of Mondo Generator. Lanegan has unleashed a solo EP, whilst completing a full-length album.

    Ich fand "Songs for the deaf" eigentlich ziemlich gut, insofern würd mir das schon ein bißchen gegen den Strich gehen.

    Habe ich auch grade schon auf Visions.de gelesen, wäre echt sehr schade, ich höre alle ihre drei Alben sehr gerne und man kann bestimt noch einiges von ihnen erwarten, wenn das Gerücht nicht stimmen sollte.
    Ansonsten steigt ja vielleicht aus der Asche von QOTSA ein neuer Phönix wie damals QOTSA aus der Asche von Kyuss.

    Ich vergöttere Kyuss, QUOTSA sind mir ein bisschen zu dissonant(:topmodel:), aber ich höre mir sie doch manchmal ganz gerne an. Und ich denk nicht, dass eine band den Desertrock noch weiterführen kann...

    Das wundert mich jetzt auch, ich finde QOTSA sind weitaus einänglicher als Kyuss und Eingänglichkeit erreicht man sicher nicht durch Dissonanz :ugly:

    Das gefällt mir jetzt aber nicht so gut. Die Beiden waren ja eigentlich diejenigen, die die Band ausmachten und repräsentierten und die Oliveri Stücke auf Songs for the deaf sind bei mir als Auflockerung zwischen dn anderen Liedern gut angekommen. Tja, mal sehen wie es weitergeht mit den Qotsa.
