Two GDI Crawlers are defending themselves against Nod attackers. This scene might show the co-op mode of Command & Conquer 4, where two players play the campaign together. Two GDI Crawlers are defending themselves against Nod attackers. This scene might show the co-op mode of Command & Conquer 4, where two players play the campaign together.

Crawler Crawler

This is how the Crawler, the mobile base of the offensive GDI player class, looks like. Easy to spot: there are two weapon systems on the roof, a double machine gun and a twin canon. Both upgrades incur a charge, but they are very useful. You need to take this slow pounder along on offensives, so it can produce supplies directly at the front. Therefore, it's quite useful if it's able to fight, too. Moreover, the Crawler can transport up to four ground units in its steel belly. In multi-player mode this could be used to set traps. Just lure a few opponents to the supposedly unguarded Crawler and then unload the passengers – surprise!

GDi-Crawler GDi-Crawler

Even when converting itself into a unit factory, the Crawler is still able to attack opponents. But it's not all too powerful, so you should protect it. In co-op mode it's necessary to divide tasks. For example, one player chooses the offensive class and moves forward aggressively, while his defensive mate surrounds his units with defensive towers and units.

Talon Talon

Being the little brother of the Sandstorm, the Talon rocket launcher is able to float and possible cross water surfaces. Just like the rocket buggy in Tiberium Wars the usually weak Talon could become a very dangerous enemy in large numbers. Otherwise it will be used for air defense mostly, as opposed to the Sandstorm being used against ground targets.

Centurion Centurion

The Centurion cyborg of the Brotherhood not only cracks vehicles with his canon arm (like a Titan-Mech in this example). If it stands still, it also raises an energy shield, protecting it from frontal attacks. His back remains vulnerable, though. According to the developers, this will be the only unit in Command & Conquer 4 where the line of vision is important. Originally, Electronic Arts had planned thinner back armor for all tanks, but then discarded the idea. »In C&C 4, you are commanding large armies«, explains designer Jeremy Feasel. »To adjust every single tank all the time would have been quite annoying.« True, especially because path finding never was a strong point of the series.

Tarnpanzer Tarnpanzer

The Stealth tank is a classic in the arsenal of Nod: it approaches enemy units and bases without being seen, then attacks them with rockets. In the predecessor games this sneaky unit was ideal to attack harvesters, but there won't be any in Command & Conquer 4. Instead of collecting green crystals with harvesters, you'll conquer depots full of resources which are converted into money on your factions account automatically.

Skorpion-Panzer Skorpion-Panzer

The Scorpion tank of the Brotherhood was available in C&C 3: Tiberium War already. In Command & Conquer 4 its design with two claws at the front and a sting made of steel looks a lot more like, well, a scorpion. Its steel tail shoots laser beams, like the Obelisk of Light, but it's nowhere near as powerful as the legendary Nod defensive tower.

Pulverizer Pulverizer

The mobile Pulverizer canon is reminiscent of the Nod artillery of Tiberian Sun. Before it can shoot, it needs to anchor itself to the ground. In contrast to the Specter canon of Kane's Revenge, the Pulverizer can't turn itself invisible. Not yet, at least. There may be many changes until Command & Conquer 4 will be released in 2010.
